Playtest Session Log - Episode 6 - Freedom from Space Polio and Religion

  1. Aboard the vessel today is Helen of Troi, Billy Zane, Dr. What. We sail to ♣️6, away mission. Clusters of space stations, unscannable from the outside. The red light keeps going off. It’s unlabeled! Gangs of feral children roam the hallways of the abandoned station. They worship a bloodthirsty action figure. The crew is haunted by the ghostly visions of their parents. To win over the children, we must first cure their space polio. Dr. What does exactly that, shaking their faith in their six-inch god. He’s rewarded with five Ore. Helen of Troi gathers the crew and their ghostly parents for family therapy. There’s a breakthrough, and Dr What hugs the air for a good twenty seconds. Helen wipes away a single tear. The Ghosts generate two supplies. Billy Zane takes apart the machine the blinking red light is attached to. The Machine is revealed to be the parts of his dad connected to a computer - kept alive! This is just like that Venture Bros episode, and explains the ghost bullshit as well. With the machine fixed and the corpse exhumed, peace returns to the station. With all the crews family problems solved, the ghosts can finally be at peace. They fly away. The children, now free of polio and religion, take up space station maintenance duties and promise to keep the place tidy.
  2. We operate the Sledge Drive! Everyone tilts to the side! Panels spark! Lights Flicker! The Space Station Cluster is shifted to warp-south-west. We then sail into ♠️8, Blackhole. Billy Zane pilots us away using the Gravity Engine and the Gatemaker Drive to aid in the escape. He succeeds.
  3. We fly into ♥️Q, the quest for the coolest space rock. Clumsy Mallory isn’t here to find it, so it just stays a regular old explosive rock.
  4. We fly into the ♦️6, away mission. A Distress Signal emits from a constellation of spinning tube world! We beam down to find the tubes abandoned - lifeless! Food is left on plates, stoves were never turned off. All that can be found is omnipresent “gon’ fishin’” signs. Weird jellies sit in everyone’s chairs, in lieu of people. Helen of Troi, Science Officer, tests the jellies. She discovers that the jellies are the previous inhabitants and that they are mint flavoured. Don’t ask how she knows. Dr What gets to work on de-jellifing them. He succeeds, without losing their minty flavour. Billy Zane, Pilot, struggles to keep the ship from crashing into the tubes during the chaos. He manages to keep the ship from doing that! The crew says their goodbyes to the tube world people and give gifts. There’s a hint of love between Dr What and a tube-woman. Helen of Troi hurries back to her room after seeing half a guy. For reasons of Crime and Romance, the crew may never return, save for Billy Zane who is planetary hero to these tube people. BUT WHAT’S THIS?!?! THE ENDGAME?!?!?! It’s a ♦️Endgame! THE PHEONIX ARC!
